Answer: The English word ‘communication’ has been derived from the Latin word, ‘Communicare’ which means to impart or participate or to transmit. The word ‘Communicare’ is derived from the root ‘Communis’ which means to make common or to share. The sense of sharing is inherent in the very origin and meaning of “communication.” 

Communication is the process of exchanging information, ideas, and thoughts between individuals, groups, or organizations. It is an essential aspect of human interaction, enabling people to connect with each other and understand each other's perspectives. Communication can take many forms, including verbal, nonverbal, written, and visual.

Definitions of Communication

In the Oxford English Dictionary, communication is described as ‘The transmission or exchange of information, knowledge, or ideas, by means of speech, writing, mechanical or electronic media’

According to Merriam-Webster Dictionary it is  'a process by which information is exchanged between individuals through a common system of symbols, signs, or behavior'

Murphy, Hildebrandt, Thomas Communication is a process of transmitting and receiving verbal and non-verbal messages.  It is considered effective when it achieves the desired response or reaction from the receiver.
